About this Japanese painting (KAKEJIKU) scroll, from a family heritage.

It been repaired by specialist in old scroll shop in Nagoya city in Japan and replaced only the base paper many years ago (as it was too old and fragile) at the Japanese antique scroll 掛軸“KAKEJIKU”shop, old specialist shop owner told about this artist 桃村 “Thouson“ he painted this around 1920.   大正“Taishou” period, Signed / dated.

The Taisho period (1912-1926) was a unique era in Japanese history, named after Emperor Taisho. This period is often seen as a bridge between the more conservative Meiji period and the highly progressive Showa period, and it brought significant artistic and cultural shifts. Due to increased exposure to Western art and ideas, Japanese artists began experimenting with styles beyond the traditional, leading to a fusion of Japanese aesthetics and Western influences.

Condition: very good, strong colors, base paper was restored by expert in Japan (see above details), slight disruption in the silk at 1 point (see image), have original 
Jikugi (軸木) – The rods or sticks at both ends of the scroll, Do not have it's original wood box Tomobako (共箱), but stored in a cylindrical tube made of cardboard, designed to protect the scroll from damage, dust, and humidity.
Beautiful work of art, great subject matter.
