HAND-CAST BRONZE TATTOO TAPPER HEAD, REPRESENTING THE UPPER PART OF A TRADITIONAL BURMESE HAND-TATTOOING TOOL. THIS PIECE WAS ORIGINALLY INSERTED INTO THE TOP OF A TUBE SHAFT THAT HELD THE NEEDLE SECTION, FORMING A COMPLETE THREE-PART SET. MADE OF BRONZE (NOT TESTED), IT SHOWS EXCELLENT CRAFTSMANSHIP AND A DEEP NATURAL PATINA DEVELOPED OVER TIME.
TATTOOING HAS BEEN A DEEPLY ROOTED TRADITION AMONG BURMESE AND ETHNIC HILL TRIBES FOR CENTURIES, SYMBOLIZING PROTECTION, SPIRITUAL POWER, AND PERSONAL IDENTITY. THIS PIECE LIKELY DATES TO THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY (APPROX. 100 YEARS OLD) AND REFLECTS THE DISTINCT CULTURAL ARTISTRY OF THE REGION.
CONDITION: VERY GOOD FOR ITS AGE – FULLY INTACT – LIGHTLY CLEANED TO PRESERVE DETAIL AND PATINA – HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE DISPLAY PIECE.
