BURMESE SILVER EAR PLUGS (EAR TUNNELS)
Yinbaw Karen / Red Karen – Shan State, Myanmar
Authentic pair of traditional ear plugs worn by the Yinbaw Karen (Red Karen) hill tribes of Shan State, Myanmar. These substantial ear tunnels are crafted in a silver–copper alloy with low silver content, consistent with regional materials and utilitarian tribal metalwork of the period.
The form features a wide flared front and elongated body, designed for large-gauge stretched earlobes. The construction and proportions reflect practical wear combined with distinctive ethnic identity.
A well-developed natural patina is present across the surface, indicating age and prolonged use. Subtle wear marks and construction details further support their authenticity as mid-20th century tribal ornaments.
