AUTHENTIC SINGLE SHAN STATE GLASS EAR PLUG ORIGINATING FROM HILL-TRIBES IN NORTHERN MYANMAR (BURMA). DATED TO THE LATE 19TH TO EARLY 20TH CENTURY, THESE EARLY MODERN ERA PLUGS WERE TRADITIONALLY WORN BY SHAN AND OTHER HILL-TRIBE COMMUNITIES. MADE FROM SOLID GLASS, THESE EAR PLUGS FEATURE A SMOOTH POLISHED SURFACE, VIVID COLORATION, AND A FUNCTIONAL TUBULAR OR CONICAL FORM. NO SIGNS OF ANCIENT BURIAL IRIDESCENCE OR PITTING ARE PRESENT, DISTINGUISHING THEM FROM PYU PERIOD ARTIFACTS. HANDCRAFTED AND INTENDED FOR EAR STRETCHING TRADITIONAL TO THE REGION.
