YAO (IU MIEN) SILVER EARRINGS WITH PAGODA ORNAMENT
Northern Laos / Vietnam – Mid-20th Century Tribal Jewelry
Authentic pair of Yao (Iu Mien) tribal earrings from the northern Laos–Vietnam border region, dating to the mid-20th century. These traditional hook-shaped earrings feature a curved body terminating in a spiral end, suspending a distinctive conical “pagoda” ornament.
The cone is decorated with raised dotted bands—an established motif in Yao silversmithing—creating texture and visual rhythm. The architectural form of the pendant, combined with the elegant hook profile, reflects both symbolic meaning and refined craftsmanship within hill-tribe adornment.
Crafted in high-silver-content metal (tested), consistent with quality Yao jewelry of the period. The surface displays a natural aged patina, supporting authenticity and long-term use.
