PALAUNG (SHAN–PALAUNG) SILVER EAR PLUGS – SHAN STATES, MYANMAR
Taungbaing Region | Antique Tribal Ear Gauges (Late 19th–Early 20th Century)

Rare and authentic pair of Palaung (Shan–Palaung) tribal ear plugs from the Taungbaing region of the northern Shan States, Myanmar (Burma). These traditional ornaments were worn by Palaung women in stretched earlobes as markers of identity, beauty, and social standing.

The form is compact yet substantial, with balanced proportions suited for daily wear while maintaining a strong visual presence. Such pieces reflect both functional design and cultural refinement within Palaung adornment traditions.

Handcrafted in high-silver-content metal (tested), consistent with late 19th to early 20th century regional silversmithing. The surface exhibits a well-developed natural patina, supporting age authenticity and long-term use.
Hollow, with resin filler or other which produce slight ringing sound when shaken.
